Implementation Workshops
Target audience: lecturers and teaching staff, learning support teams and student support and disability services.
Option A: Supporting Students: Boundaries and Belonging in a Complex Education System
Staff in colleges and universities are increasingly supporting students experiencing distress, transition challenges and complex needs. This practical workshop helps staff respond with confidence, compassion and clear boundaries, while protecting their own wellbeing. You will explore the wider context shaping student need, staff pressure and emotional demand within higher and further education.
You will leave the workshop able to:
• Understand the current education context shaping student wellbeing and staff responsibilities.
• Respond to students with empathy while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Recognise when a situation may require signposting or escalation to specialist support.
• Support students while protecting your own wellbeing and sustainability in role.
Option B: Inclusive Learning for Autism and ADHD
This practical workshop explores how teaching staff and support teams can create more inclusive learning environments for neurodivergent students, particularly those with ADHD or are autistic. Participants will explore common barriers faced by neurodivergent students and identify simple, practical adjustments that can support engagement, learning and belonging.
You will leave the workshop able to:
• Understand some of the challenges neurodivergent students may experience in further and higher education.
• Adapt learning materials, teaching approaches and environments to improve accessibility.
• Identify practical strategies that support engagement for autistic and ADHD learners.
• Access further tools, resources and guidance to support inclusive practice.
